It's about time...

Okay, so I haven't TOTALLY just "been away" all this time. I have been lost in facebook land. Too busy to upload and make blog posts. Not too busy at all really, but that is what I tell myself. I have been lazy. Lazy is a bad place for me, it is intoxicating and leads you down roads you don't need to go down. I HAVE been changing a lot of how I live. How I eat, how I workout (I DO now! Didn't used to at all) and overall taking care of myself. That is a good thing. But I need to get back to my blog. I may do a little re-vamping in the next couple weeks, but in the mean time... ...Here is a photo I took last November. I am SO READY FOR FALL and cooler weather, though, around here, it may not show up til November anyhow. Here is a pretty fall image to focus on for now. Enjoy!

Say hello to my little friend

This is a Carolina Anole. He was very accommodating when my daughter asked me to take some pics of him. He had a buddy nearby. They let me get very close and zoom in even closer. I'm so glad he didn't jump on my lens, because I would have jumped as well.






I hope they get their fill of little pesky bugs!

Spring, Bluebonnets, wildflowers and bees

Spring has sprung. One of the many things that I love about living in Texas is when we have a good wildflower season. We don't always get good ones. Dry winters mean little to no bluebonnets or colorful flowers. BUT we've had a good wet winter and the flowers are showing up everywhere in full force. Nevermind that technically they are weeds, and nevermind that when I go out to shoot them my nose runs and my eyes get all itchy. It's a delight to get to capture these beauties when I am able to.

A time for new beginnings

It feels like Spring anyway, here in South Texas. Much needed and anticipated rain has enabled the grass to start greening up and the roses to start blooming. Wildflowers are just beginning to make their colorful appearance known.

I noticed I haven't posted in quite awhile. I get side-tracked, but I am going to make an effort to keep this blog updated better. I'll be sharing some wildflower pics soon and maybe even some simple photo tips if anyone is interested.

Early in the week, it didn't feel much like autumn yet. We went to an apple orchard and had a bunch of fun.

Praying for rain....seriously

I've been ending all of my prayers lately with a petition for rain. Seriously, this photo is from September of 2009. It has rained since then, but not much, and not when I had my camera handy. We're ready when you are Lord.

Lines, lines, and more lines....I can't get enough of them

I'm not sure why I'm drawn to them, but I am. Maybe it's the symmetry, or lack of, lines don't have to be orderly, but they almost always appear to be. I just love them. Lines and clouds. What grabs your attention and begs for you to capture it?

I had the opportunity to shoot the finalization of an adoption for a friend. I have been praying for her and her husband for several years now regarding adoption. It was such a blessing to get to document answered prayer for them.

details, details, details

When shooting an event, be it a birthday party, or a wedding, or a quinceanera, it is always important to remember to get the "detail" shots. The little things that make the party unique and special, from the invitation to the seating arrangement to the flowers, cake and wine glasses. People shots are very important, but the detail shots show how much work was put into the event.

Don't forget to shoot the details!


















By the way, these are some of my favorite shots to take. You don't have to worry about red-eye, odd faces or mussed hair. LOL
